The University of Nebraska-Lincoln released its fall COVID-19 plans as Lancaster County’s risk dial remains at "High".

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln said they will no longer be requiring COVID testing or masks for the upcoming school semester. UNL’s Director of Public Affairs, Leslie Reed, says they have gotten guidance from the Lincoln Lancaster Health department.

“We’ve worked very closely with the health department throughout the pandemic response and the health department has not recommended re-entry testing at this point," Reed said.

Reed says UNL is not planning to require testing for COVID-19 or face coverings at any point during this semester. However, students and staff on campus will be able to receive voluntary testing if needed by bringing their N-Card to one of the testing locations.

Reed also said students can now free up storage space on their phones by deleting the Safer Community app.

“With our testing program this upcoming semester, appointments aren’t required. We don’t need the app anymore," she said. "We can handle getting the results to people through our portal."

Students and faculty can now use UNL’s COVID-19 Testing Portal to access previous results and even share their vaccination status.
