UNL AD Alberts: Frost Will Return as Head Coach Next Season, Restructured Contract

UPDATE: Late Monday, Frost announced the football program had parted ways with four of the five offensive coaches, including offensive coordinator Matt Lubick and running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Ryan Held.

Two a days after a loss to Ohio State, the University of Nebraska’s Athletic Director says head coach Scott Frost will return to lead the team for a fifth season.

In a written statement released on UNL’s athletics website Monday afternoon, athletic director and former Husker football great Trev Alberts said Frost will return as head coach next year. In the statement, Alberts said he’s watched the program closely since he took the AD job four months ago and that Frost has laid out a clear plan and vision for the future of Nebraska Football. Frost, also in a written statement, said he appreciates the confidence Alberts has shown in him and that he is honored and humbled by the opportunity. He also said he’s confident the program will continue to take steps forward. Frost is 15-27 in four seasons at Nebraska. The Huskers are 3-7 this season and won’t make a post-season bowl. Alberts also said Frost has agreed to restructure his contract, but didn’t release details. The Huskers have a week off and then travel to Madison to play the Wisconsin Badgers November 20th and then end the season at home against Iowa November 26th.
