Indoor Mask Mandate Extended Another Month In Lincoln, Lancaster County

An indoor mask mandate in Lincoln and Lancaster County has been extended another month, until November 24th. At a news briefing Tuesday, Health Director Pat Lopez said new cases have plateaued, with around 80 cases reported each day.

“When we look at cases over the entire pandemic, we see this has happened before, a surge, then a decline, then a plateau before our case numbers change and go down again,” Lopez said. “We would like to see case numbers drop to a sustained average in the range of 40-45 new cases a day.”

Lopez said the area’s positivity rate has held steady at between 9-10% for the past week and health officials would like to see it at around 5%. The Lincoln-Lancaster County COVID risk dial will stay in the elevated yellow category this week.
